Sandi and I had been wanting to do a classic style old glamour shoot for a long time. We had spent some drunken time poring over this beautiful old photo book with classic images of Hedy, Ava, Jean, Frances, Judy, Gloria, etc etc etc in stunningly dramatic poses with gorgeous lighting and costumes, complaining loudly "Where did classic old Hollywood glamour go?!!!!!". Last weekend, we spent two days setting up - her dressing and doing her own makeup, me playing with lights and backdrops and camera settings, in an attempt to recreate that old Hollywood glamour.

*SO* much fun. And now my portfolio is gonna look way more glam that it did before! :) (That's always a good thing!)

Tonight I'm off to a photographers networking event, photobiz, where I have submitted a photo for the exhibition and auction. The theme was "youth culture of Japan" and I had planned to submit this great shot but I saw Mark Oxley had already submitted one almost identical to that so I changed to a more subtle, sophisticated B&W from the recent shoot with Risa. One that people may actually want on their wall, I hope.... I wasn't going to attend this event, but you know, it'd be nice to meet the faces behind the names of all the work I've been inspired by over the years.

The weekend was spent at the computer for the most part, though Friday night Christian and Tyler had a gig at Nanahari in Kayabacho and I went along and drank too much byo beer and had a lot of fun. Pic's at facebook, would love to link but leechblock means I can't access it right now. Yay, good old leechblock, my productivity has been exceptional this week. Also went along to Darin's bday picnic in the park, where I caught up with some long-time-no-see faces like Josh from Bondi Books and Justin from Koenji, and was amused by the two circles that formed: one blanket, ladies with babies, the other circle, boys drinking beer talking about Metallica. Geez.

Anyways, gotta run. Ciao for now.

Me! Thanks for making me look good. It was the next best thing to going back in time, to where I probably belong. Except maybe the tattoos wouldn't have gone over so well in old Hollywood.
