The Canon EF 50 mm f/1.4 USM

Shibuya Lamp Lane

Shibuya Noodle Bar 2

Joyful Man

Red Lamps In Shibuya-1

The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM is really, really nice. I chose it for its low light magic, D.O.F and portrait opportunities.

I've added a bunch of test-type shots from this evenings Shibuya lanes to the random tokyo album. What do you think?

Yeah, the sub f2.8 range is grand fun, especially for isolating subjects and giving a '3d' feel to things. If you're still using the 300D, I suggest picking up an extreme wide angle. I have the 10-22mm but unfortunately it doesn't work with the 5D (I had the 350d and before that the 300d). It's lots of fun for city and landscape shots. I think there's a Sigma 10-20? that may be a bit cheaper.

Actually, funny enough, a wide-angle is next on the list. I went in and priced some on Friday. Maybe at the end of the month.... Was thinking about the Tamron 17 - 35mm F2.8 but still researching.
