Ashes and Snow

Ashesandsnow Kopia 1152888690-1

Can't wait to see Gregory Colberts' superb photographic exhibition Ashes and Snow out at the custom made Nomadic Museum in Odaiba soon. I found his book in Tower Records yesterday, printed on handmade paper with rough edges. Just magnificent, but at ¥16 000, a little out of my price range. I remember the first time I came across his photos maybe this time last year, I was just gob-smacked by their spiritualism, stillness and soulfulness and kept going back for more. Can't wait to see them in huge prints, in a custom made gallery.

Hi,
I have been following your blog for such a long time without comment.. I can't even recall how I stumbled across you.. I'm a Brissy girl who spent 2 years in Japan some time back.. I wanted to send you this link.. because I too thought the Ashes and Snow books breathtaking but too expensive for me.. I found one on sale at seek books in Aus.. I wanted to share the link with you..

I hope it works.. I just googled the book name under Aus if it doesn't link you..

I'll be seeing it on the 26th of this month. Really looking forward to it. The prelude show at the Mori Art Museum was breathtaking. I'll let you know how it was.....

Do you mean Hakone? Not sure about Hikone, but Hakone is near where I used to live in Yamanashi-ken.... Seems everyone moves to Tokyo eventually... living in the boonies in Japan can send you a bit loopy...
