Yes, folks. It's true. My beloved flatmate, Charlene, has made the reluctant decision to head back to Manitoba when her contract finishes in March next year. Which means that we'll be needing someone to take on her room and maybe buy some of her furniture.... I know it seems far away but these things have a tendency to sneak up on you, so here are the details:
The room will be available in April 2007;
It's a 13 mat-sized parquetry floored room, light and airy with doors opening to the kitchen, hallway, sun room and big sliding glass windows that open out to the traditional Japanese garden;
¥75 000 per month + gas, electricity & water bills + ¥75 000 deposit;
A Vegetarian kitchen;
Fully equipped household with all mod-cons (including washer and dryer);
The apartment is actually the bottom floor of a 2 level house - the Japanese landlords family live upstairs in a completely separate household. They are lovely, friendly, helpful people;
Located in Suginami-ku, nearest stations Mitakadai (Inokashira sen) and Nishi-Ogikubo (Chuo sen) - very close to Kichijoji;
Prefer a long term rental
Interested people can email shoanhouse@gmail.com for more details

gee, sitting behind my desk at work on a rainy day in san francisco, i could spend the rest of my afternoon just daydreaming about how cool it would be to live there. great to know that will be someone's reality someday soon.

Very cool pad, is it hard to find places like that in Tokyo? Or this a typical Tokyo flat?

Daniel, no, this is not a typical Tokyo flat. In fact, we are incredibly lucky. Most people live in tiny apartments.
Thad, Juggs, Mike, innocentgirl, gleek - the offer is still open... he he. Had a few inquiries but will deal with the details next year....
