Happy Hanami!

Sakura in Shimoda

Just got back in from a few days away in the Southern tip of the Izu Peninsula with Andrea - had a fabulous time wandering around sleepy fishing towns and craggy cliffsides and white sand beaches. Even got a little sunburnt. If I get a little time next week I'll get a little album together, but with all the usual hanami silly season activities I may not get it done for a while. (I have, though, already uploaded some new, very very cute manholes from the trip). Tomorrow I'll be photographing (and celebrating) Sarah and Keisuke's wedding at Yoyogi Koen which should be a hoot since the weekend is scheduled to be "full blossom" time.... I'm looking forward to having a whole bunch of willing models to photograph against the backdrop of the gorgeous Yoyogi Sakura.

The pretty sakura trees in the photo above can be found if you wander along the creek in Shimoda, down in Izu. They should be in full bloom by now so if you get a chance to check them out, you should. Way more peaceful viewing cherry blossoms there than in Tokyo!

Happy Hanami everyone!

Oh, thank you for the hanami pic! More please, more more more! Can you show wedding pics (once youve taken them of course!)? I so miss all you gals and guys at the moment, and the whole brief hanami season. I hope you are having fun with the blossoms and the people and the alcohol! Love and hugs as always!

Hey Martine. Do you have similar shots of the lanterns but at night?

hey toan, it was bloody freezing for most of the trip (apart from the last day on the beach), with a fierce chill wind so no, there are no night time shots. had it been a little warmer there would have been for sure. it was just so pretty!
