Earthquake preparedness

Japan correspondent Kjeld Duits has a chilling read on Earthquake preparedness. As a survivor of the '95 Kobe quake which killed 6 400 and injured around 25 000, he is well qualified to comment. I've taken some of his suggestions on board already (ie show friends or family how to access your blog so they can post news on your situation for you), and plan to work towards achieving the rest of his suggestions. If you live in Japan, you really should read this article. It's excellent to read a first hand account of the immediate and long term problems facing earthquake victims in Japan. It's also more than a little scarey.

Wow that's a comprehensive list. I hope it never happens here. It's pretty much my worst nightmare!

Thanks for the link - that is a great article. I finally got around to making an "Earthquake Kit" recently, but reading that made me realise there were many other things I hadn't thought of... and I need to get more food!
