Kichijoji happenstances

Monks chanting and begging in the streets.

The local park cats get fed and watered by local park regulars in Inokashira Koen.

Sing it loud, sing it proud: I love Kichijoji. The best town in Tokyo. (Just FYI, The Tokyo we all know and love is actually a state made up of 23 different, adjoining city districts.)

Off to the futon now. Nighty Night.

Love the cat pic! did you see if the cat was actually turning on the bubbler by itself?! or is it on all the time?

Anne, the cat sits and waits for someone familiar with its habits to turn on the bubbler. It doesn't like being petted too much though. It has a little black friend, too, who hates being petted even more. They both wear collars so I guess someone looks after them... but they are always in the park.

That's one cool cat. Love it when animals manipulate people.

You're contradicting yourself here, as Musashino-shi (where Kichijoji is) is not part of the 23 wards (23-ku), but it's one of the 26 cities (-shi) of Tama-area. Tama also contains 4 other towns (-machi) and villages (-mura), and there are also 9 islands. :)

Yes, I'm just a completely ignorant twat and thank goodness for people like you who patrol facts and figures spouted so casually on the net and who correct all our misinformation.

Thanks for setting me straight, Patrick.

You learn something new every day.

Don't worry, I didn't know that much either, in fact my geography is pretty bad. But your post made me look it up, so thanks to you I ended up learning some new stuff too!

Hey Martine! It's Steph, the Canada jin from Seikei. I tried looking for your email, without much success. I've been busy at school, wish I would have written sooner. I really miss Nihon! The food, the people ;) the mentality, Inokashira Kouen. Thats a beautiful pic of a cat :) Jem's missing Nihon just as much as I, but she keeps regular contact with Sho. Great kid. I bought a rice cooker the other day, I'm so happy that I can have rice now, but we're not supposed to have them (fire hazard of some sort) so I'll have to keep it on the dl.
If you've got time, I'd love to hear from you. Say a great big hey to our friends at Seikei, Yoko, Leah, and your land lady...Yoshimoto?...no, thats the 3nensei's name that Leah melts over.

Hope to hear from you soon. Nihon, good food and great ppl.
