Computer love. Not.

computer love

Justin sent me this gif a few weeks ago, I laughed my head off when I got it because I knew it would come in handy one day. Hands up everyone who has ever felt this way?

According to my astrological stars (yes, I know, I'm a fucking hippy, OK), Mercury is retrograde at the moment, which typically means that anything that can go wrong in terms of technology and communication, will go wrong.

I'm not going to start on the list of shitful crap that I have endured over the past 48 hours, but let me say that, on the top of the list is the fact that I just lost 2 days of the most intense HTML/CSS coding that I have ever done in my life. I have never built an HTML/CSS page from the ground up. It's been hard slog.

Dreamweaver just crashed. When I re-opened the file, it was completely empty. empty. empty. All those carefully hacked-together javascripts and nifty CSS tricks. Gone. Empty. Nothing at all. Nada.

I need to make a cup of tea and sit out in the garden for a few minutes. Breathe, Martine, breathe.

bah... forego the Dreamweaver. it's useless.

A nice little text app with tag completion and syntax highlighting, along with Firefox and the Developer SDK plugin for visual feedback. That's aaaaall you need :)

(And by the way, what's up with the hippy crap :P )

THAT is the funniest gif i have seen in a while.

are you running a mac? i recommend using BBEdit with a nifty CSS tool from westciv.. let me see.. where's that link?

http://www.westciv.com/style_master/index.html

oh, or if you're running on windows, they make stylemaster for that as well. on my windows machine at work, i use ultra-edit which is a great editor. it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles like other editors do but the ability to make macros has saved my life.

DrDave and Gleek, THANKS. I will check 'em out. Yes, it is a mac.

Juggs, ha ha ha you're a funny bugger.

Amanda, actually, I'm gonna get lost in the new Harry Potter book for a few days and just fuck the computer right off. Need a break from it.
