What the hell?

Is it just me, or is the world going to hell all in the name of religion? I wonder what Mahommed, Buddha and Jesus would have to say about the fucking mess. They would be pretty damn disillusioned. I thought all this education and technology was supposed to enlighten us as a global society, to recognise the wisdom of tolerance, love, peace and charity. What the hell went so wrong? Humanity is just not capable of growing up, is it. All these idiots carrying on like a pack of ignorant, paranoid, hysterical schoolyard bully-gangs, generating chaos, distrust, fear. I used to be an optimist but humanity keeps on disappointing me. Fucking gang mentalities. If it's not paranioa and senseless cruelty, then it's the environment and virulent consumerism and greed and selfishness. I need to stop reading the news. It's killing me. I despair for the future. I am losing hope. I am also losing consciousness. Must. Sleep. Now. Oyasumi.

I know this is meant to be a serious post, but this song popped into my head:

"Mohammed is Jesus is Buddha is love, is the way I see it"

I hear ya. I'd like to think that everyone has the right to believe whatever religion they want if it makes them feel better. But if they're going to be irresponsible dicks about it, I'm changing my mind.

I'm serious about not reading the news anymore! I went through my bloglines RSS subscriptions and deleted all the news sources. Yay. Feel better already.

that such things bother you makes you more A Human and less One of the Mass Automoton...

the thing is, humans have historically always responded to fear of the unknown in somewhat violent ways. they're hardwired to. divinity and spirituality are paradoxically great codified unknowns. religonion becomes a cause to violence in the name of self-preservation. I kill because My God is more Terrible than Your God. there will always be an excuse, because we will always draw conclusions from the falling stars and the innards of fowl, whether founded on fact or fancy.

at least people are trying to make sense out of the senseless. people inherently want to know the truth. they just fall far short, because of such trial and error. it just sucks for everyone else, having to deal with the screaming freak, waving a stick, crying out his truth as the one and only truth...

good going girl - i stopped the news listening and watching some time ago - and if ever i stumble back into the pattern its just so frightening, upsetting and full of crappola its best to stay the hell away from it!

here is something to keep your hopes high and that optimism shining -
talking with my boy last night we had an indepth convo about religions of the world as we see them from different cultures and backgrounds the conversation collapsed when he said 'jesus - is that a guys name? ooohhh i thought it was a swear word!'
got me thinking...if half the world have no friggin idea who jesus is - what the hell is all the bullshit about???
let the typhoon wash the worries away - NO NEWS IS TOTALLY GOOD NEWS!

i'm with you.

it's so hard sometimes to see the good in people if we only see/read/hear news.
we need to spend less time with our heads in the papers or eyes glued to the tv & more time looking at the people around us & with us.

that's where real humanity is.
