Aureole and Q left this afternoon after 5 great days of madness, mayhem, laughter and, of course, tattooing. It is always sad to see a good friend go, especially when it's been 2.5 years since the last time we saw each other. Hopefully it won't be so long before our next get-together. Anyway, I'll write more about our week later - this is the TATTOO entry!
This morning I got my first tattoo. We spent a lot of time planning the design, perusing some truly beautiful Japanese design books that Aureole bought after Darin recommended them in the bookstore at Kichijoji Parco. I am really happy with the beautiful design we ended up with - all blue, flowy lines and sakura blossoms. Aureole drew the pattern on a few days ago to give me some time to get used to it, and to suggest any changes, but the end design remained pretty much the same as the initial design.
Yes, it hurt. The foot is one of the most painful places to tattoo, and Aureole tells me I have street cred now. So yes, it hurt a lot but the nature of pain is that it is fleeting and forgettable.... Short sharp bursts of burning pain and then nothing. I was surprised by how easy it was. I had help though - I bought 3 packs of kava when I was in Fiji in January and mixed up a liter of it before we started. Had some panadols too. And a great mix of music.
Aureole is heading back to her old tattoo studio, Wild at Heart Tattoo in Brisbane after spending a year tattooing throughout Europe, and if anyone is looking for a great, creative and gentle-handed tattooist, she's yr gal. She is a great artist, and comes highly recommended from this little corner of the world.

its simply gorgeous
where is the japanese tat shop?
recommend them?
beautiful work
great design - its a big decision sometimes - you chose so very well
Sushi, It was done by my friend in my bedroom. Said friend is now back in Brisbane, Australia so you will have to go there to get similar work done. Glad you like the design, if you look closely you'll notice a certain astronomical constellation you may well be familiar with....
Indigogirl, yes, it is slightly addictive. It is entirely in the realm of potentiality that there will be more in the future. But it has to mean something, and be the right time and place.... like it was for both you and I. Loved your tattoo story.
Juggs, glad you like. What are you getting next?

i love hidden meanings and layers. the little constellation thing - i had another look. fabulous.
actually, to be totally honest, the constellation is something we didn't plan, and I most certainly didn't even notice until recently, and is actually a little incorrect (the baby star is on the wrong side) but I still love the idea cause it's my favourite constellation (being a southern hemisphere gal and all). i just thought I'd test and see if other people noticed the similarity.

Oh that's easy to answer,...been decided on for over a year now. I'm getting the kamikaze red sun,..you know the one,..on my left elbow and on the inside of my left bicep the Hokusai Great Wave. Eventually will fill out the whole left arm! Just money is the problem.
ah yes i see it - stunning and not really incorrect just ur interpretation of it
