TokyoLand

Tokyo based Scottish photographer Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert is having a joint exhibition with Yasuhiro Ogawa in Shinjuku from tomorrow. (For details & a map follow the extended entry link below, in Japanese and English)

I met Jeremy at the Philip Jones Griffiths night last July, and met with him for a long coffee and brain-picking conversation a little while after that. He's a nice guy and a great photographer. His street shots of Tokyo are great, as are his Niigata Earthquake shots, his Whaling portfolio (on behalf of Greenpeace and from a Greenpeace vessel) and his Gypsy portfolio shots. If you have some time, try to get down to his exhibition and support this talented photographer.

And don't forget the twice yearly Design Festa is on this weekend folks! My favourite event on the Tokyo calendar.

Shinjuku east, in the Takano building, Konica Minolta Gallery.. 4th floor
above Gucci, which is on same street as Studio Alta and Kinokuniya.

If you stand at Studio Alta screen, and look diagonally to your left you see
some electronics store on the corner, red signs etc. It's in that building,
4th floor.

All great work. Especially the whaling stuff. Japanese "scientific" whaling is a friggin scam.

Love Black and White cities and people.

I'm too far for this exhibition.... (;_;)
I'd loved to go there. I like his pics taken in the streets of Tokyo.

I like the Tokyo photos too. The black and silver colors are beautiful, and the guys seems to have a gift for finding weird scenes I never see wandering around the city, or maybe I just miss even though they are out there.

I went to the exhibition today and man, it was really really good. I am totally inspired to not only take more street photos, but also to get off my procrastinating arse and start planning my first ever exhibition. Everyone should try to check it out! (...if you're in Tokyo....)

As for your exhibition, sounds like a fantastic plan Martine :) When do you think you'll do it?
