Yo

I'm back. Thank God. Must say, I'm liking this fibre-optic connection... 100Mbps.

It snowed here last week - I took these pics on the walk to school. Yes, I did say the walk to school. Only 25 mins door to door, part of it beside a lovely river. Yes, 2005 is gonna be a lovely year. New apartment, new job, a social life and hopefully some new cameras soon. I am sincerely unhappy with my G3 these days - the shutter lag is driving me crazy, as is the lack of clarity.

Expect an avalanche of posts over the next few days....

Gorgeous vertical photo at the top. The white slowly turning to silvery grey as it pulls you down that strange funnel of trees at the top with the very subtle color of the umbrellas... you always take such amazing pics. So glad you are back. I check your site everyday.

Glad things are looking up for you Martine. I looked at your snow photos this morning in Brisbane and actually felt quite cool, then I looked at the thermometer and it was 23C.

The power of photography?

My Panasonic DMC-FZ20 is feeling better every day, the image stabilizer really works.
Always wanted a Leica but now at least I have Leica written on the lens. Seems they only "designed" the lens, but don't tell my friends.

oh wow. that's what i have to look forward to hey, the whitest of whites? it looks so beautiful, but i'm sure that your photography has a lot to do with that.
i had to put sunscreen on for the first time in a long time. for my last few days in melbourne, i'm enjoying weather in the 30's and i'm actually enjoying the heat. it's refreshing. i think of you as i enjoy the heat, and i look forward to sharing my reverse culture shock experiences with you. it's nice to see that you're back on a little regularly. thank you xo

Brrrr those wintery shots look FREEZING.

Opening bamboo shot reminded me of a scene in 'House of Flying Daggers' - beautifully shot film, set in China, shot partly in Ukraine. And the hotness of Kaneshiro Takeshi too!

Kikkoman, glad you like that one, I was planning it from the moment I left the house that morning.

Don, new camera? Can't remember what you were using - is it that one you had at Christmas time? And yes, the power of visual images is powerful. Maybe you're just feeling a small taste of the approaching autumn (if you can call it autumn....)

Amanda, give my love to the Australian sun, will ya! Enjoy yr research and I look forward to hearing your stories when you're back.

Nicole, yes, it was a bloody cold day. Isn't House of Flying Daggers a beautiful movie! Shame the story is a little thin. Still, I'd happily see it over and over and over again just for the lush cinematography. Glad the bamboo pic made you think of that lushness.

Life is good.

Nice pics.
I love the snow here.

I know what you mean about the camera though. I brought a G5, when I made the switch from film to digital.
But after a year, I really needed a SLR. Shutter lag got to me as well.
Thank goodness for my Canon 300D (I brought it when on business in Singapore, so it has the Euro name). Of course, Canon have only gone an brought out the replacement for it.

... and the Dark Side of these SLRs is the lens envy I'm suffering from :(

Of course, it's the photographer that makes the real difference, and some of you G3 pics are a hell of a lot better than my G5 ones.

(Hmmm, my first comment here... been reading this blog for ages, along with 35 Degrees, Sushicam and a bunch of others)
