percy and gertrude are growing up

my babies are growing up so fast! haven't posted any pictures of my pet turtles since i got them last year at a festival in tsuru.

in an interesting phenomenon, it seems the female red eared slider outgrows the male by up to 50%. when it started happening i was really worried that the male (brave little percy) was sick or that the female (cranky bossy bitch gertrude) was hogging all the food. but i did some research and it appears all is exactly as it should be.

i have also done some research here on the top 30 most visited galleries of frangipani, and i am planning to delete everything not on that list. sadly the turtles gallery is one of "the rest" so this week is your last chance to check out my turtles before they disappear into the netherworld, alongside the rice harvest, the fire festival, churieto and the kimono dressing gallery, to name just a few.... (sorry to kathleen and j-ster for deleting your faves but it has to be...).

thanks kathleen, i hope so....

i should tell people too that percy and gertrude don't usually look like this - they are all scrunched up tight coz they're only just out of the water and very scared, uptight and cranky.... they actually have very long lovely necks and legs. gertrude actually tried to take a bite at me while i was taking these photos.
