the busy lanes across the road from ueno station are full of old style seafood markets and packed crowds and stalls selling all manner of goods from t-shirts and sunglasses to chinese style cheongsams and traditional japanese style souvenirs. well worth a stroll on your way to the park.

For anyone who is interested in this beautiful food and the atmosphere of Ueno, the seafood is in a small alley that runs alongside the railway line just across the road from the main lower exit of Ueno station. It is called Ameya Yokocho, this is written on an arch over the entrance. The alley runs back towards Okachimachi and Akihabara and Tokyo, just full of atmosphere!
