tokyo is awash with cherry blossoms.
and it will be awash (ha ha, cheesy segue) in acoustic folk/pop music too on saturday night when my very entertaining flatmate dave (from canada), and his bandmate geoff (from new york) play a gig at bar pa-trush in jiyugaoka, meguro-ku. look for the kuchi building, level 3 when you exit jiyugaoka station on the tokyu toyoko line. doors open 9pm, and the 1000 yen cover includes a drink.
dave and geoff call themselves "missing scene" and i know they're good cause they keep getting offered gigs. if you miss them this saturday then you can try checking them out next thursday, when they play shimokitazawa.
i walked through our local park today. in one corner, a double bass player was practising, and in the other a sultry saxophonist. seems with the dense housing problems, most musicians practice either in soundproof (cheap) karaoke boxes or in parks. i'm very happy they have to practice in the parks. i do like a live musical accompaniment to my r'n'r.
