broadband versus dial up

during my holiday i was given an opportunity to see how painfully slowly my image heavy blog page loads on dial up. i'm so sorry to everyone out there who has to go through that hell every time they visit.

so from now on, i will be making use of the "extended entry" option, and only putting one image per entry on the main index page. the rest of the entry and photographs will be sent to the individual entry, and you can click on the link below to read it.

i'll also slightly reduce the quality and raise the compression of the photos used on this blog page. sorry if they don't look quite as lush as before, but it's all in the name of reader comfort. especially my poor old dad who uses 56 k dial up.

hopefully i will also get my shit together a little more and load the series from which the photo comes up to the gallery BEFORE i post to the blog so that you can check out all the photos you are interested in.

see how easy it is!

Hey there Martine. Just a thought that if your ISP has the ImageMagick Perl module installed then MT can automatically make thumbnails for you. It works pretty well from what I have played with it. Then you could have a few thumbs on the front.

Just a thought. Happy New Year!

hey matty

i can do thumbnails, but i think they are kind of inconvenient, and i prefer to have the big pictures all together. thumbnails are just one photo per pop up window. i did think about that, but decided against it. thanks for offering some suggestions, as always, i appreciate your input enormously my dear.

hope the trip rocked, looking forward to hearing all about it. i have the winter blues. need some inspiration.
