Bondi Tsunami

This film and associated special event looks really cool. Here's the speil:

First time Australian feature film director Rachael Lucas’s much anticipated new cult Japanese road movie Bondi Tsunami has just completed a successful 50 town tour of Australia . Bondi Tsunami has inspired a new wave of commercially viable DV film making in Australia and was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award at the prestigious IF Awards in Australia.

Bondi Tsunami is the new high profile Australian feature film, that follows the psychedelic adventures of four punked up manga inspired Japanese surfers as they venture up the spectacular east coast of Oz in a 1961 EK Holden. Described as Kabuki meets MTV meets the Wizard of Oz meets Monkey Magic !!

If you want to see this movie (in Japanese with English subtitles), Insentiv Media are putting on a free Sneak Preview Screening at Image Forum Cinema, in Tokyo on Friday April 15th at 7pm, along with a question & answer with two of the cast: Taki Abe (The Shark) and Miki Sasaki (Kimiko) and Producer Anthony Lucas-Smith .

I've seen the film. It's quite interesting to see the blend of Australian and Japanese cultures, but I wasn't overly impressed with it, to be honest.
