The first picture is funny: a bunch of old fridges covered with snow and the word "recycle" written on the wall.

Snow Totoros! So adorable! I like the "risaikuru" picture, too. ^_~

I found your site just before Christmas and have been enjoying your photos and musings ever since. Unfortunately, they do tend to fuel my longing to return to Nihon and never leave again. :)

Wonderful photos, Martine! The USA (east coast) is freezing to death right now, but your snow pics are beautiful anyway. Gee....the serene county photos of Japan...I cannot get enough!

Visiting your site is such a pleasure...both your writings and photos!

heya, yes, J, i quite enjoyed the recycle joke too... would YOU buy one of these fridges?

sakka and kathleen, thanks for dropping by to say hi, i'm really happy to hear from people who visit from time to time.

i have to confess though that my posts will be slowing down a lot for a while. it's official. i've become brain dead. i know it's just winter in a small town with a language barrier, but damn it, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g is boring me.

even the internet has become boring. i'm watching dvd's re-runs of lord of the rings over and over again. i'd rather gaze at aragorn and gandalf and frodo than waste my energy doing ANYTHING computer related. i have hardly even picked up my camera in the last few weeks. *gasp. now that's something.

may the next 10 weeks fly by. and then.... i'll be living in tokyo. i will have a social/cultural life again. and no doubt as my brain starts clunking back into action the posts will start to come again. in the mean time, i'll try to post a few piccies at least once a week. can't promise any words though. i truly have nothing to say. don't worry, it's just another phase.

Knowing what's on the wall in the first picture makes it even more funny.
The last one is also quite hilarious: the snowman fell apart, but can't come in.
